Mission Statement

The mission of the Ridge Historical Society is to preserve and interpret the distinct history of the Morgan Park, Beverly Hills, Washington Heights, and Mount Greenwood communities of Chicago. Through its collections and activities, the Society will advocate educational programs and research that explores the communities in relationship to the social and cultural history of the United States.

Seek assistance from scholars and experts to provide continuing analysis of the organization's activies.

Develop programs to meet the needs and interests of a diverse constituency.

Goals of the Ridge Historical Society

Explore the community's history through written, visual, and oral methods.

Maintain a facility for the purpose of housing collections and archives, and to provide a focal point for the organization's activities.

Identify and acquire information and artifacts relevant to the history of the communities.

Provide optimum protection for the collections in a manner appropriate to their preservation.

Make the collections available for the purposes of research and interpretation.

Develop and implement programs and activities that inform students and the general public about the history of the communities.

Encourage and implement the on-going documentation of the history of the communities.

Cooperate with other organizations and groups to encourage preservation and exploration of regional history.
